Meet Freya!
I got Freya at 4 months old from a friend’s husband out in Omak, where she loved wandering the property and getting into mischief with the family pack. The more I learned of the breed the more I realized I would eventually need training help. She came with resource guarding issues and wasn’t a huge fan of smaller dogs. I had thought we had worked through most of it by the time she was 1 years old.
Right before she turned 2 years old she started becoming reactive towards unknown animals at a fast pace. I tried a few different training places but nothing seemed to really work well with her. I had an eval with Let’s Go and it was assessed that it was excitement reactivity. Buffy (the consultant’s dog) was amazing with Freya. Freya calmed down once she got to meet, but it took her a while. They were confident that we could work through it, even with the embarrassing husky level temper tantrums.
We signed up for the Day Train Academy. We did have to take some breaks throughout because of health concerns. A part that she and I had been missing as well was our trust for each other outside of the house. I didn’t even realize we were missing that huge part until we had some one-on-one lessons with Steve.
It has been a year since we started, and Freya now has come so far! Does she still have some excitement reactivity? Yes, a little, but she is so much easier to handle and get back under threshold quickly. She has dog friends now outside of the home pack. Even though she gets excited to see them, she normally calms down quickly so she can go say hi. She has more focus and enjoys working outside of the house now. She loves going to class and reminds me that it’s class day – she gets all sorts of excited.
Because of the support and hard work (getting through my hard head)of all the trainers, she can now perform her previously trained tasks as my Service Dog in public, she is an amazing “foster” big sister to puppies that get fostered within our home for a local dog rescue, and we are hoping to continue to get better at some of the dog sports even though she’s like a bull in a China shop.
The Let’s Go training team helped give me back my life with Freya. There are not enough words in the world to express how thankful we are to them. – Karen T.

“I used to struggle to keep our dog under control in public—he would pull on the leash and even jump on people. Now, I can take him anywhere, even into stores, without a single worry about how he’ll behave. We constantly get compliments on how well-trained and calm he is!”
